Horseheads for Eric
Here they are, Eric, just as I promised. I first tried to eat horsemeat during WWII. My grandmother "fixed" it for the family because you could buy it without using ration stamps. She was an excellent cook but the family didn't like it. Dave and I tried it two years ago when in France. He had trouble with the mental image and I thought it was tough. It was fun to try it anyway.

Oh, yeah, there it is! The mental image is definitely going to spoil your meal, but I think that is the case with nearly every piece of meat if you think about it, no?
You mentioned before that you didn't have many comments. Perhaps you might consider opening the comments to all (blocking anonymous means that people have to take the trouble to register with blogger if they want to leave a comment), and also "hide" the Johnny'sarc blog that doesn't have any posts because we don't know which is which (I forgot how to do that, though). Just a thought :)

Yep, that's it, the exact same butcher. "Funny" you mention your grandmother fixing it during the war. I do understand about this mental image thing, I think it would be the same for me. Just a matter of habit I suppose, there are no reasons we feel sorry for a horse and not a beef...

Great to see you blogging again, Johnny or have i just missed a whole lot of time?
I think this is an acceptable reason for eating horsemeat and i applaud your mum for putting food on the table in whatever way she found. Shame you didn't like it!

Yes Johnny, Tomate is right. I think this might be why you are seeing a lack of traffic. I have to remember that it is the 2nd Johnnysarc blog you have up and running and not the first.
Horse meat probably tastes just about the same as cow, but our emotions get the best of us before putting something down our stomachs don't they.
